Jal-TARA Slow Sand Filter

Modern India is facing a severe drinking water crisis in terms of both quantity and quality.

Despite massive state interventions the situation today remains dismal. People in several parts of India face an immense challenge to meet the basic needs of water. The crisis is not due to the lack of fresh water as such, but the unavailability of adequate quality water.

Jal-TARA a name commonly used to detect the quality of water is also catering to the needs of water quality management. Jal-TARA Slow Sand Filter provides a solution for the bacterial contamination in water.

What is Jal-TARA Slow Sand Filter?

Common water purification systems comprise of chlorination, coagulation and sand filtration techniques. Of all these techniques, sand filtration offers a chemical- free, reliable and economical treatment. Jal-TARA Slow Sand Filter is designed to treat drinking water using slow sand filtration technique as per the specifications of World Health Organisation (WHO). Jal-TARA filter is a biological filter merged with advanced technique of fabric protection to improve and simplify the traditional process of slow sand filtration. Two type of filtration act together to improve the quality of water: It consists of a gravel filter to remove turbidity, and sand bed filters to completely remove pathogenic bacteria from raw water.

What can Jal-TARA Slow Sand Filter do?

The system is capable of treating the following parameters:

Removal of turbidity of value greater than 30 NTU to lesser than 10 NTU.
Removal of coliform bacteria of varying between 25-100 MPN per 100 ml to nil.
Reduces excessive Iron to permissible limit of 0.3 mg /l.
Apart from this the system also improves the taste of the water and the odour removal.
