The International Children’s Parliament, Edinburgh, U.K. organised the Commonwealth Children’s Summit in Edinburgh from 20 to 26 October, 1997. Our group was represented by :

  • Dr. Aditi Haldar, Development Alternatives
  • Ms. Neha Sakhuja and Ms. Padmini Patnaik, both from Naval Public School, New Delhi.

Participants with the British Prime Minister

The group formed a part of discussions on themes " caring for our environment " and " freedom " and came up with a Bill of Rights on these themes, which was presented to the British Prime Minister.

The children had the opportunity to meet Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Mr. Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister.
The Baroness Smith of Gilmorehill awarded the girl students diploma certificates. In the Heartstone Exhibition ten paintings of our partner schools were selected for display at the City Art Centre and at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
