The 5th CLEAN-India MEET was held on
Saturday, 2nd February 2002 and had participation from over
400 students and teachers from member schools of Delhi and also
from Bangalore, Jhansi, Vijayawada, Kodaikanal, Dehradun, Lucknow,
Bhopal, Indore, Bilaspur, and Baruasagar.
The highlights of the MEET were Eco-Expressions Competition and
formation of Human chain.

The Eco-Expressions was a competition on how
issues of environment can be put across to people through creative
media. Students presented street plays, songs, dance, and puppet show on
different environmental themes on which they have been working with
CLEAN-India in the past few years. The message brought
across creatively ranged from play on celebrating Holi
festival using natural
colours, effects of air pollution brought by a song, a puppet
displaying how to celebrate festivals the eco-friendly way and a
play on water pollution and deteriorating
condition of our rivers.

The first prize of the Eco-Expressions
competition was awarded to Amity International School, Noida, the
second to Montfort School, New Delhi while the third prize
was jointly awarded to Carmel Convent and Gyan Mandir Schools from
Delhi. Apart from
this all schools who participated in the competition were
given participation prizes.

The prize
distribution ceremony culminated with handing over the best
CLEAN-Delhi school for year 2000 - 2001 to
Salwan Public School. The prizes
consisted of recycled handmade paper products , and different
books and videos on environment issues.
After enjoying a healthy refreshments the students assembled to
form a Human chain to say
"We Care and We Act". The human chain was
flagged off by the Hon'ble chief minister of Delhi Smt.

also congratulated the
CLEAN-India students on their outstanding contribution for
environment protection. Students displayed colourful placards, posters and
banners on the themes of "Safe water for all",
"Clean air", "Eco festivals", "Managing
wastes" and "Save our trees". Holding the banners
and placards, they formed a human chain along a stretch of Bahadur
Shah Zafar Marg.
