CLEAN FOR TREES
CLEAN-India endeavors to
make our future generation realise the value of trees and also
actively take up greening of their surroundings and ensure their
protection. The activities undertaken by CLEAN-India schools
are:
TREE
PLANTING
|
Schools in
particular, have both a need and scope for planting trees.
CLEAN-India's motto is :- 'wherever there is an open area, let's make it
green'. The attempt is to create a mini-arboretum of sorts. This
means planting and nurturing a variety of trees, which will help
in their scientific study and display apart from conserving
them. This arboretum could comprise medicinal trees, flowering
trees, native trees, etc and can also include diverse climbers
and shrubs.

Many CLEAN-India
schools have taken up tree planting during monsoons. In
the last couple of years the school students have planted
saplings and taken good care of them. In the process, they have
realised how difficult it is to make them survive. As a
result of their efforts many of the schools have turned greener.
Other activities,
which help the students know more about the trees they have
planted are also undertaken. Students fill up "My Tree
Handbook" developed by Development Alternatives, which
helps them record the growth of their tree and also discover its
features. Labeling of the saplings by giving both scientific
and common names enables creating awareness on trees to other
school students. Once the school campus is covered, the area
outside the school like neighboring parks, roadsides, etc. are
also taken up for tree planting.

TREE WALKS
There are
thousands of species of trees and plants on our planet. To
acquaint the with students
|

Studying about trees can
be fascinating fun!
|
the diversity around us, CLEAN takes
students for TREE WALKS in gardens, local parks, city forests
and even inside the school campus. During the walks experts help
students identify the different tree species along with simple
tips on how to identify them, their important medicinal,
aesthetic properties and characteristics. The students thus
comprehend the diversity in nature and its value. The students
are then encouraged to identify and |
observe the different tree
species in their school and neighbouring parks, make leaf and
flower herbariums, etc.
