WATER WATCH
WHAT STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY

Water Testing

       To test the water
    there is Jal TARA Kit,
 an interesting game to learn
and to make my memory fit.

Take a test tube
and fill it with water.
Put the pH paper
to test the quality of water.

Phosphate, chloride, ammonia and nitrate
these are my favorites.
It is fun for me
The rest will take a while.

          Oh! what a magic
         comes in my hand
          which on shaking
the colour changes into blue.

          For a while
      I stand in a trance,
      for I get a chance
       to be a scientist.

        I enjoy to test
and I want to tell you
    that water is our life
 and some water borne diseases
can be a threat to our life.

Water Is Precious

Water is precious,
So its use should be judicious,
Lets be extra cautious
And never we will be oblivious.
To preserve the hopes of nature,
Conserve it and rapture,
Instead of share and care,
If we allow wear and tear,
Indeed there will be no more cheer.

So let us pledge
" EVERY DROP OF WATER IS OUR BLOOD ,
WE WILL CONSERVE, SHARE AND CARE IT,
WE HAVE THE FORESIGHT AND VISION
THE FOCAL SCIENCE OF THIS WILL BE OUR MISSION."

WATER TESTING
.....Testing water samples was an all together different experience. We collected the water samples from various sites. We learnt of the various processes by which water quality could be tested and we were shocked to see the results in some samples. Now was the time to take some action and CLEAN-India, once again was the driving force behind us. We went to the affected areas distributed chlorine tablets and made the people aware about the deteriorating water quality in their area. After experiencing all this we realised that it was the carelessness of the authorities and even the people due to which the lives of many people were at stake. We got in touch with the authorities who were responsible for this negligence and urged them to be more conscientious in their duty.

YAMUNA WATER QUALITY MONITORING

The Water / River monitoring project started in our Vidyalaya by our faculty members has kept us spellbounded till now because it has given us the right platform to learn about our environment.

The project has been a big success because of the conducive environment provided by our faculty to all the students to learn and understand more about our environment. The success of the project can be shown by the large number of students who participated in it.

The project made us realise that our environment is in a bad shape and that we can resurrect this condition by adopting some eco-friendly means. Our attitude has changed as we have come to know about the havoc which we have caused to our environment.

We have started by making a sincere effort to bring awareness to the people about the ordeal our holy river Yamuna is facing. We found facts and figures which left us in dis-belief, like for instance 71% of Yamuna’s pollution comes through its course from Delhi only. We and of course all students form other Vidyalayas will co-operate to make Delhi and India pollution free.

How much water do we really use ?

It is commonly believed that education will solve all existing problems. But it is the literate uneducated that is the real problem. We cannot blame the misuse of water on the slum dweller, who spends three hours in a queue sometimes, waiting for 12 litres of water which is used for the whole family. The middle income group uses an average of approx. 60 litres per day per person.

It is the upper income group that the water consumption shoots up, using an average of 100 litres per day alone. This isn't including water used for watering lawns, hosing down the driveways, or washing the car, not to speak of water guzzling washing machines. It is the upper income group that needs to think. This is true for many other environment problems. Just think about it!
