ZERI stories – A
stimulating learning experience!
Keep your dreams alive and Happening!
Our attitude towards learning in life is what
will shape our future as an individual, and how we as
individuals will help shape society. Most children have
something special that is different from everyone else. Each
child wishes to be stimulated in an environment that cares.
The
ZERI,
Zero Emissions Research & Initiatives (ZERI) is a global
network of creative minds solutions using nature's design
principles as inspiration, fairy tales strike a cord, and
generate a lot of additional questions. The learning
technique is not to answer each question with a
scientifically backed answer, but rather stimulate a search
to find the answer.
Being the
India
affiliates of ZERI,
CLEAN-India organised a workshop in Delhi where students
from 7th to 9th Grades were introduced
to ZERI stories in the form of presentations. The
presentation of the stories was followed by questions and
discussions. The innovative approach of ZERI stories and the
illustrations were extremely helpful for getting complete
attention from young minds and enthuse and excite them. The
students thoroughly enjoyed the stories and at end of the
workshop shared experiences of innovative methods of
conservation they had tried out, heard or seen. The students
liked the sections “Did you know that?”, “Think about it”
and “Do it yourself” and were able to appreciate the thrill
and excitement which results from lateral thinking.
The stories and discussion did help in
igniting a spark! It also enthuse the children to look for
innovative solutions to environmental problems.
They also got motivated to present the stories to their
friends and junior section.
Following the success of this workshop, we plan to have more
of these in various schools across the country, catering to
a large number of students hoping to inspire them to dream,
to think, to create and to make a difference.
What is even more interesting is that now they see the
multiple interrelations amongst many of the scientific
subjects, and do not see them anymore as isolated themes and
look at many interrelations which had never been noted
before.
The
ZERI stories helped in creating a space for new knowledge,
new insights, and indeed new visions and dreams as well.
